Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of what we do!

We are working hard with our cosmetic research & development partners and suppliers to bring to you palm oil free, chemical free, cruelty free, and single-use plastic free alternatives to your major supermarket brands.

We aim to use ethically sourced ingredients to make 'guilt free' products that will make you feel just as good on the inside as they do on the out!

Moving to Palm Oil Free

People have been making soap using natural plant oils such as olive oil and bay tree oil for over 2,000 years. Palm oil is a fairly recent addition to the traditional oils used in soap making.

Palm oil is a cheap and versatile oil and for that reason it has become the most widely used oil in the world. Up to 50% of products in your supermarket may contain some form of palm oil. It is used in soaps, cosmetics, confectionary, bread, and many other household and food products.

Unfortunately the huge growth in the use of palm oil has led to the large-scale destruction of our rainforests to make way for palm oil plantations. This in turn has caused the demise of precious habitats, home to endangered animals such as the Orangutan, and Asian Tiger, Elephant and Rhino.

For that reason, we're moving to exclude palm oil from our products. We have started with our soaps, shampoos and handwashes, all of which are palm oil free. We are now working with a leading and innovative cosmetic formulation company to develop a palm-free range of skincare creams and lotions and we hope to be able to announce more on this soon.

You may not recognise palm oil on your product labels as it may be described in ways which are not clearly obvious including as a vegetable oil. For more information on the names and products in which palm oil is used go to www.wwf.org.au/palmoil

Moving to Chemical Free

There was a time when you could recognise the ingredients used in your soaps and personal care products. Now most ingredients found in soap in your supermarket, department store or hotel are made from synthetic chemicals which you will not recognise. And some of these chemicals are known to be harmful to our skin, health and environment.

We are moving to exclude harmful chemicals from our products and use natural plant oils, butters and extracts which are edible, safe on the skin and easily recognised. As we have been using these natural ingredients in our food and soaps for thousands of years, their effects and benefits for our skin and health are very well known, valued and celebrated!

Cruelty Free

We are cruelty free and vegan because we can make the best soaps without the need to harm any animal.

Single-Use Plastic Free

Like palm oil, the use of plastic has grown exponentially over recent years, and it's production, use and disposal has harmful effects on our climate and natural environment. We only use recyclable glass bottles, containers, and packaging to reduce resource consumption and pollution. This allows you to reuse or refill our bottles and containers and hence make your own contribution to the protection of our environment.

Ethically Sourced

We use ethically sourced natural oils, extracts and minerals because we wouldn't be able to enjoy our soaps knowing that any person may have been harmed or abused in the process.

Supporting Local Farmers

We make our soaps and personal care products locally, in Sydney, using mostly Australian natural oils, minerals and plant extracts and in doing so, support our Australian farmers and sustainable farming practices.

Carbon / Ecological Footprint

We are mindful of the energy, water and other natural resources consumed and the carbon emissions and pollution produced through the industrial manufacturing, packaging and transportation of soaps and soapy products.

We source the majority of our base oils, essential oils, clays, plant extracts and other materials from local producers in Australia, and as our products are hand made, we maintain a smaller ecological footprint.
